Things I’m Loving

It’s been a pretty amazing couple of weeks on a personal level. My wife turned 30, I graduated from school, I received an offer in NYC from an amazing company, and I got to see a good friend get married. All in all a relentlessly positive and somewhat selfish few weeks. Now it’s time to reflect a little bit. On to the list:

  • The in your face success of Facebook. Truly an amazing company with amazing people.
  • The massive amount of useful content that is created everyday. From the professional (e.g. NYTimes) to the amateur (blogs) it’s a joy to wake everday and consume.
  • Warm days and cool nights.
  • The opportunity to pare down the amount of “stuff” we own in our upcoming move.
  • Realization that as school ends my next “masters” will begin in either VC or start-up world.

That’s it and that’s all. What are you loving?

Things I’m Loving

Welcome to Friday the 13th. I feel like everyone should celebrate and make superstitious people feel really comfortable on a day like this. Party at the moontower? On to the list:

  • San Francisco - Begrudgingly I always find myself drawn to this place
  • NYC - For me it truly is the unknown. Every visit is like a trip into the chocolate box
  • Paying it forward - I feel so strongly about this. Caveats about introductions aside I think this carries a lot of weight
  • Old friends, new adventures - in both work and life it’s great to see old friends embarking on big time journeys
  • Thunder and lightning

Over and out folks. What are you loving?

Things I’m Loving

You know what day it is people, although admittedly I’ve been a bit erratic recently, it’s the day in which I share the things that have been making me happy recently. Friends and family coming in at #1 obviously.

  • Trains and train travel (Amtrak does not get the same love)
  • Lex Thomas’ Quarantine (Shameless plug for my brother in-law)
  • Making a huge pan of lasagna (leftovers for days my friends)
  • New music
  • Old music
  • The Masters
  • That feeling where my belief in pay it forward is starting to pay off. It’s a weird mix of opportunity, gratitude, luck, and satisfaction. Starting to get a tingling now.

That’s it folks. What are you loving?

BTW, according to research 50% of people’s happiness is related to DNA (essentially who you are), 10% is related to their life circumstances (born rich, poor, healthy, sick, etc.) and the other 40% we control. Get out there and control your happiness people.

Things I Love Today

Guess who’s back? Time to get things cranking, I can’t tell you how good it feels to be in 2012. 2011 was such an amazing year. Highlighted by the biggest day in my life thus far - tying the knot with KCV. Lucky me. I have lots to be thankful for and I plan on busting my ass again this year to keep it going. Onto the list:

  • Learning to cook (stressful night the other night but managed to pull off a real dish)
  • Chilling at home in my apartment
  • Impending ski trips
  • In-law visits which inevitably include non-stop good eats and good times (Hi Pam)
  • Cleaning out my closet
  • The “nerds” of the internet combining to fight against the draconian SOPA
  • Great news from my parents

I hope everyone is off to a great start in 2012. What are you loving today?

Things I Love Today

It’s Friday so that means time for me to ramble on about everything that I’m feeling this week. Feels like this was one hell of a week too. I no particular order:

  • Emergen-C I’m not sure what I would do without it
  • Making new connections and reconnecting with old ones
  • The new beer garden in Hayes Valley
  • The luxury of having a little bit of time to sit around and just think
  • Great customer service
  • Seeing the internet community up in arms about SOPA (I hope congress isn’t asleep at the wheel on this one)
  • Trying out new products/services. It’s the spice of life

A little fluffy this week but sometimes a little fluff ain’t so bad.

Things I Love Today

Hola interwebs. Apologies for the two week hiatus. I thought for Turkey Day that giving thanks off-line with my family (including @kcv and her family) was more important than Tumbln and last week…well last week I’ve got no excuse. So anyway…in no particular order:

  • Dogsitting this fearsome beast
  • Early season snow in VT
  • My upcoming “Luna de miel”
  • Rittenhouse Square lights at night
  • Onset of squash (1% issue if there ever was one)
  • Jon Stewart and Colbert absolutely crushing Trump
  • Most importantly our family friend KP has made his way back. Next Tuesday I’m riding with KP in spirit. Champion

What are you loving?

Things I Love Today

Here we go. Another week down. Family and friends are somehow still holding down the top spots. BCS standings be damned, it’s that easy. Here’s the list:

  • The Knocks (50% of the group reps Hanover High School. Can’t beat that)
  • Comments from my mom on my blog. Boomski
  • Fall weather (Crisp)
  • 30th Birthday parties. Lots of nervous energy
  • Any opportunity to break out my old high school hockey jersey. Self call
  • The Daily Show
  • Professor Michael Roberts at Wharton. He’s turned Corporate Valuation into the best class I’ve taken, perhaps ever. Who thought DCF could be so fun

My buddy MLR started posting a couple of things he’s loving as well. Great to see. What is everyone else loving?

Things I Love Today

My weekly list on the things that I love right now. Numbreros 1a and 1b are always family and friends. On to the list:

  • The extra awesome meal that I’m supposed to make for @katevitt tonight. On a wish and a prayer right now…this could easily get pulled from the list
  • Double birthday NYC trip tomorrow
  • Streaming USA vs France game in 2 minutes
  • Opportunities handed to me by friends and family
  • Positive reenforcement from followers on the web (for real, seeing people “like” a post really gets you going, as narcissistic as that may be it’s very true)
  • Inspiring professors who are excited to teach and aren’t sleepwalking
  • Edwin Chan (partner at Frank Gehry) who spoke to us about creativity this week. U.N.R.E.A.L.

That’s a pretty good list for this week. Two side notes: 1) The scandal in Penn St. is shameful across the board. Not good. Will take true leadership to ease the pain. 2) Thank you to the veterans of the USA. I never give enough appreciation.

What are you loving today?

PS, the 11-11-11 phenomenon is pretty fun.
